Smart Shield - Serious Sun Protection

I love summer. Oh, am I beating a dead horse? I don't think so. I'll say it again...I love summer! But you may be surprised to hear there's a thing  or two I don't love about this time of year. Such as putting sunscreen on my kids. They don't like it. They don't like how it smells, it gets in their eyes and tortures them, I can never remember to put it on them before we get outside so it can absorb for 30 minutes. Plus they have varying degrees of sensitive skin, ranging from slightly sensitive to extremely sensitive. I don't know which sunscreen will cause a reaction on which kid.

So I was happy to have the opportunity to try a new (to me) sunscreen, SmartShield. It came right when I needed it. I came home from a long day at the beach with my kids, where we had used the last of another bottle of sunscreen. It was late and I had to pack for a trip we were leaving for the next morning. We needed sunscreen but I really didn't have time to run to the store. And there on the table was a box from SmartShield with a brand new bottle of sunscreen in it. Serendipity. Ask and you shall receive...yadda yadda yadda.

There are some really great things about this sunscreen. Like...
  • It's safe for all skin types. Which means its hypoallergenic, PABA free, and dermatologist and pediatrician-recommended.
  • It absorbs instantly...although the bottle does still say to apply 20 minutes before exposure to the sun.
  • Water-proof and sweat-proof; lasts for hours.
  • It's oil-free. No greasy hands, no stains on clothes, no clogged pores.
  • The info packet I received says it won't sting your eyes, but on the bottle it does say to keep out of eyes and I'm not about to test it.
  • It's Aloe based with vitamins A, C, and E.
After applying SmartShield to my kids, I didn't feel the need to wash my hands. It felt light, and I just rubbed the excess into my hands like a hand lotion. Really, not greasy. It didn't irritate their skin. They didn't burn on a really hot, super sunny day, and I never re-applied it either. Plus as I was reading the bottle I realized that this product is made in the U.S. and it's eco-friendly. Which, when I looked it up on their website, I found means that SmartShield products are biodegradable, won't contaminate marine life, and are approved for natural marine habitats.

Would I recommend this product? Yes! The downside, however is that, according to the store locator on the website, the closest place selling this stuff is 28 miles away from my house. But it can be ordered online, at www.SmartShield.com, or on Amazon.

You can also find SmartShield on Facebook and on Twitter
