Halloween Costume Review: Batman Dark Knight

Halloween is coming, that time of year when I stress and fret over choosing costumes for my kids. This year I'm ahead of the game because Connor already has his costume. I was fortunate enough to work with the Costume Super Center to write a review of a costume of my choice, so I let Connor choose one. He went straight for the Dark Knight Rises Costumes, which came as no surprise considering that he is really into all that Batman stuff right now. Chris and I went to see The Dark Knight Rises on our anniversary, and I have to admit it was pretty good. Then a few weeks later, he took Connor to see it. I agree with the movie review Chris wrote about it - it's highly entertaining, and I might even watch it again. Of course, Connor loved it!

Is that the Dark Knight climbing my tree?
Connor was really excited to do a little modeling gig for me. Please note that this is pretty much the only time he has ever happily agreed to model any type of clothing. The costume he chose is called Dark Knight Batman Deluxe Muscle Chest Child. It consists of three pieces: the body suit, the cape and mask (which are connected), and the belt. I ordered him a size large, which the website says  should fit sizes 12-14. I'd say that is accurate.

I like this costume because it's simple, it's comfortable, and you don't really need anything else to go with it. Plus, it looks cool. That said, Connor did wear his own Batman gloves that he already had for these pictures. The costume is made out of a soft, light-weight and breathable fabric, and goes on easily over clothes. It has a little give to it, so I don't think it will be a problem even if Connor has to get a little bundled up under it for trick or treating. The body suit is long sleeved with long pants and connected shoe covers. Connor was able to slip it on over his jeans and shirt with no problem. There are straps on the shoe cover part to help it stay in place over shoes. To be honest, they slipped around a bit, but that could be because Connor has kind of big feet. But even though they slipped around, with those straps they were definitely not coming off his feet. The belt ties around the waist. And finally, the cape straps around the neck and, like I said the mask is attached. My kids are not allowed to wear masks to school, but this will work out because he can just keep the mask pulled back and he'll still be able to wear the cape. Connor loves the costume and he had fun wearing it. He didn't even really want to take it off. It would be cute if I could convince Bethany to dress up like Catwoman, but she already has her heart set on something else. I don't know how many years I have left before my son starts thinking that it isn't cool to wear a costume, so I'll enjoy it while I can.

I think Batman is flying through my yard?!

I received a costume free of charge for review purposes. All opinions are my own. Please note that the gloves pictured DO NOT come with this Dark Knight costume!
