Loving My New Free Country Coat!

Spring might be just around the corner, but it is very much still Winter in Michigan. Nothing turns me into an unproductive blob more than freezing my tush off! When I was younger, I didn't think it was cool to wear hats, gloves, boots, or even socks. Now that I'm older and wiser, I know that I am a much happier person if I'm physically comfortable, which means dressing for the weather. I've also learned that cold weather outerwear can even look good.

I was recently given the opportunity to review a coat of my choice from Free Country. I had a difficult time choosing because I loved so many of them! But I ultimately decided on the Women's Tahoe Power Down Jacket in True Grey. I chose it because I liked the looks of it, it's a nice mid-length, and it seemed to be quite nice and cozy.

My first impression of my new coat was that, first of all, it shipped very quickly! I received it only about two days after I ordered it. I'm not sure if that is typical, or just because I was doing a review, but I was definitely surprised to get it so fast! As soon as I tried it on, the first thing I thought was how light it is. I have another down coat from a different brand, and in comparison, the Free Country down jacket is a lot thinner and less bulky. I wondered if this would affect its warmth. Being that it is so cold here, I didn't have to wait long to find out.

Turns out, my Free Country Power Down jacket is indeed very warm. The cuffs and around the neck are made of a soft, warm fleece material. The hood is nice and big, and the (fake) fur helps to protect against the elements. I also love that the pockets zip. Losing gloves is a downfall of mine, and having them safely zipped in the pockets helps. Inside, there is a small pocket that can be used for an mp3 player. The coat has a zipper and snaps, which gives it a nice polished look when it's all done up. It is very comfortable and fits well. I used the size guide on the website to determine which size to order (it's a Medium, in case you were wondering), and found it to be accurate.

Before I was contacted to do this review, I had never heard of the Free Country brand. Then I went to breakfast with some friends this morning and noticed that two out of three of them were also wearing Free Country jackets! One of them was even a Power Down very similar to mine. Now I see that Free Country is everywhere!

I can honestly say that I absolutely love my new coat! It fits my style, it's comfortable, and it keeps me warm. I would definitely recommend Free Country next time you're in the market for a new coat. They have a wide variety of jackets for all seasons.
