So What! Wednesday
I'm counting the days until I'm due for an upgrade on my phone. Iphone, here I come. Finally. Hopefully I make it until then without either stomping my phone to bits or throwing it out of a moving vehicle.
We got rid of our home phone that we had through our cable/internet provider and replaced it with Magic Jack. I've had an untold number of people tell me that it keeps breaking up but I don't care. Not going back. And also, it sounds fine on my end.
Because we are slightly nuts, we decided to leave for Florida at 10 o'clock at night and drive straight through. If you never hear from me again, you'll know that our plan back fired and the kids once and for all sent us straight over the edge of sanity.
I've just enjoyed about six hours of being home alone and reveling in the silence. Even my dog has slept quietly almost the entire time. Bliss.
I'm not sure how I'll handle it if we get back from Florida and it's still wintertime in Michigan.
Getting ready for a family vacation is daunting, and I can almost see why some people opt not to travel when their kids are young. Almost, but not quite. Daunting, yes, but so worth it.
I believe this will be our third year in a row celebrating Easter away from home. I like it that way.
A goal of mine this year is to get a passport, just in case. I have no plans of international travel at the moment, but I like the idea of being able to do so if the opportunity comes up.
I cannot fathom the idea of going an entire year or more with no vacation whatsoever. I get that money is an issue, it certainly is for us. But something inside me starts going a little haywire if I don't get out of town every now and then. I would absolutely tent camp if that was the only way to do it. Or course, I actually enjoy tent camping, so I'm not sure what my point is there.
I feel a little guilty leaving my dog at home while we're on vacation. If only she weren't a big, neurotic, shedding fur ball, then maybe someone would let her stay at their house and she wouldn't miss us so much.

So What! Wednesday
Once again I am linking up for So What! Wednesday!
This week I'm saying So What! if...
I get a little single-minded when I'm on a mission. Which means I am sometimes less than patient with my kids. Either you're with me or get outta my way!
Lucy has to do curtsies in her dance routine, and she does them in the silliest most awkward way, so I've been trying to coach her on how to do it correctly. However, I'm fairly certain she's going to revert back to the awkward curtsy for the dance recital. Who cares? There are few things cuter than little girls at dance recitals, no matter how much they mess up!
I killed our printer by trying to feed photo paper into it. Oops.
I climbed a ladder and got on our roof the other day to try to fix one of our shutters, and then I could not get back on that ladder to get down. Just could NOT do it. So I climbed in through the bathroom window. Should have just done that in the first place!
I've been writing down everything I eat for a doctor's appointment I have tomorrow, and sometimes I just don't eat because I don't feel like writing it down. I should do this all the time!
Sometimes I just crave quiet. And sometimes I get really crabby when that is not a reality.
Losing weight is like impossible for me. I don't get it.
I'm thrilled to have the kids home for the summer, but I have to get used to the constant cacophony.
I've been really busy in the real world, and thus my blog has suffered the past few days.
I brought out a bunch of super cute hand-me-downs from Bethany & Lucy that finally fit Mathilda, and she refuses to wear them. Diva!
It's taken me forever to write this dinky little post because my kids keep needing stuff!

So What! Wednesday
I'm linking up for So What! Wednesday!
This week I'm saying So What! if...
- My phone goes totally wonky at least once a week. I can't turn it on, I can't turn it off, I can't text. It's very close to reaching brick status.
- My kids have decided to wait until the last week of school to start having difficult mornings. This one is crying because she can't find bobby pins (!?!), this one doesn't want to wear any of the shorts that are clean, so decides to wear some that are too small, that one wants to wear dress shoes with thick socks. Oh and that little one, why the heck is she up???
- Mathilda has a little tiny boo-boo on her toe, and her band-aid fell off in her sleep. It must be a sign of the apocalypse? See above.
- Last night a second slice of ice cream cake won out over working out. I'm digging deep for will power today! But not that deep, because I'm totally having more ice cream cake after lunch!
- I told Chris that vegetarians eat seafood. Oops! He cheats all the time, and I don't really feel bad about eating a little fish last night. I'm a lax vegetarian, and I'm alright with that.
- I'm bummed that Lucy's class is not having a kindergarten graduation.
- I've been letting the kids stay up way too late on school nights. Especially Lucy, because she really can't handle it. But when it's still light out and she's having so much fun outside and it's practically summer break already, I somehow think it's okay - until she is having a breakdown over something stupid and I realize that she really needs to be in bed!
- I loved Madagascar 3 probably as much as Connor.
- I'm just now getting around to ordering a birth certificate for Mathilda. She's 3.
- I'm hoping I don't start crying at Bethany's 5th grade awards tomorrow.
- I had a traumatic experience switching the blog's domain the other day. I think it's all worked out now, but there were a few tense moments there.
