Countdown to Summer Vacation!

It's the final countdown to Summer Vacation! Only 4 more days after today! This is going to be a busy busy week, including a wedding that Lucy & I are both standing up in on Friday, which is stretching the limits of my time management capabilities. Today is the calm before the storm, and then tomorrow our craziness starts full force. Thank goodness my girls are not in dance this year, because if they were we'd also be dealing with extra rehearsals and recital preparation. Whew!

Finally we're having some awesome weather that makes me forget about how much I passionately hate Michigan all winter long. My weekend was really pretty swell. Friday night I went out with my friend Hilary, and it is always fun hanging out & chatting with her. We closed out Starbucks, and at our age that's saying something.

Saturday...Chris's mom willingly kept all four little munchkins over night, and we didn't even ask! Gosh we are so very lucky. So we dropped them off and went to visit our friend Jay who is in the midst of renovating an historic home. I want to renovate an historic home, it's a dream of mine, so I'll just stick my fingers in my ears and sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when Jay starts talking about how many thousands of dollars over budget this renovation is going. Then we went to eat at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants from the "old neighborhood" (down the street from where Chris grew up).

Chris had plans with a friend for the evening and I was looking forward to having the house to myself. I never have the house to myself. This was going to be great! Well honestly it wasn't that great. Maybe that's another post, but I think I've become so used to being surrounded by chaos all the time, I don't quite know how to handle it when I'm not. I'll take a do-over though. Anytime!

Sunday I went to Chris's mom's and we walked to her local park/pool with the kids and spent the afternoon there. It's a private park, you have to live in the city to go there, and it's a small city (actually, I believe they call it a "village"), so it's rarely crowded. Even on a gorgeous, warm and sunny Sunday afternoon. The kiddie pool was empty when we got there, and for awhile we had the playground totally to ourselves. It was a nice summer preview. Have I mentioned that I love summer?

Now we just need to get through four more school mornings, one more speech class, one last preschool meeting, one summer reading program registration night at the library, one rehearsal dinner, one birthday dinner, and one wedding that is going to take up an entire day with hair and make-up appointments and photographer sessions, and then we can have days like this anytime we want, any day of the week.

Come Saturday, the wedding will be over and we can all r-e-l-a-x. What I need to do is relax now, so I can enjoy this hectic week. Because there is going to be a lot to enjoy, and I'll need to catch my breath once in awhile and remember that.

Hi Alysia,

I am stopping by from voiceboks. I know how it feels to have cabin fever. We had a brutal winter in NJ as well. I'm also looking forward to a relaxing summer with my crazy trio.
