Did you hear? Bon Jovi is coming to Ford Field on July 18, 2013! And today it was just announced that the J. Geils Band will be the opening act! How fun is that?!
With tickets starting at just $19.50, you can't go wrong. Ford Field is a terrific venue in the heart of downtown Detroit; it's clean and easy to navigate. So you've got affordable ticket prices, a fabulous location, and let's not forget: two great bands! Sounds like a recipe for a perfect date night or girls night out!
I was in middle school when Bon Jovi first entered my radar. Jon had long hair (there was a reason they called them 80s hair bands), and I was quickly hooked by such hits (which have since become classics) as "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer", which were the band's first and second number one hits. Almost 30 years later, I still crank it up and sing along when these songs come on the radio.
All these years later, and Jon is still considered a heart throb, Bon Jovi's music still gets a lot of airplay, and the band is still known for putting on fantastic concerts.
I will always associate The J. Geils Band with their hit single "Centerfold", which I've been singing along to for over 30 years. The group officially disbanded in 1985, but has been performing occasional reunion shows and short tours in recent years.
