I guess I've been kind of absent from the blogosphere...I don't think I've been any more busy than usual, except that I've read 3 books in the last week, so that's what my free time (and a lot of my sleep time) has gone to. I read It Happened On the Way to War by Rye Barcott, which is an incredibly inspiring memoir that pretty much made me feel totally inadequate because I haven't accomplished squat compared to this guy, and he's younger than me. I'll be doing a write up for Luxury Reading soon, and I'll post a link on my Facebook page when it's published. The writer was named after Catcher in the Rye, my favorite book ever, and I love that. Then I read Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult, which was about a prisoner on death row. That was a good one too. And today I finished The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. I have to take a breather before I delve into the series finale, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, but I probably won't be able to wait much longer than, say, tonight when I should be sleeping...because I can't wait to see what happens next!
So...onto my weekend rundown. Friday my brother-in-law Rob arrived from Florida for a visit and stopped by for a bit. This is sad, but I can't remember anything else about Friday. I'm going to assume this means I was reading every spare second? What did we eat for dinner? I have no clue. Nothing memorable, I guess.
Saturday Rob came over again, and took all of the kids out to lunch and for a big shopping trip at the Dollar Tree. Thankfully they behaved themselves, so maybe there is a chance of that happening again sometime. Then we went to a family wedding for Chris's cousin later in the evening. My mom babysat and Chris and I had a nice time spending time with his family. But we had to make it an early night because...
Sunday morning Chris was on t.v.! His band, The Smiths United, was on a local news morning show, so he had to be up and out the door really early. My mom came over to watch with us, and the kids were dancing around the family room and screaming when they saw their daddy on television. Here's the clip!
Later on Sunday we all went to my in-law's house for a big family get together. The kids got to see cousins they hadn't seen in a long time, and it was really fun hanging out with everyone. We basically had a big family weekend, with a lot of excitement thrown in with Chris's big television debut.
What did you do this weekend? I hope it was great!
