30 Days of Thankful

Day 3  We are always so busy. Whenever we have an evening or a whole day with hardly anything scheduled, it is a special treat. This past week was surprisingly calm, with a few activities canceled due to Halloween. Chris and I have been trying to rearrange and organize around the house, and spending time at home has held a higher than normal spot on the priority list. He had a couple short work days, and a side job he was supposed to do today was re-scheduled until next week. The result has been that all of us have been hanging out together, with nothing more on the agenda than laundry, playing, house work, tickling and giggling. We don't generally have a lot of time for laid back and laissez-faire, so I am enjoying it while it lasts!

I am thankful for time with my family. Time when all 6 of us are together is especially precious. I love going on fun outings and doing interesting things - really love it. But sometimes not needing to change out of your pj's is a good thing. Sometimes lounging around and looking at old pictures together, telling stories and sneaking in tickles when no one is looking...well, sometimes that is even better than going out into the world and doing stuff. Just being together is going to get harder and harder the older our kids get. They have more time-consuming activities, they want to hang out with their friends, they have more homework. Not to mention that Chris and I each have responsibilities and interests outside of the home. So when we have the opportunity to just be together, all under the same roof, I am happy to seize it and enjoy it for all it's worth.
